Christmas 2015

Christmas has been and gone, although with a week left of the holidays, I’m still very much in relaxing mode after lots of sewing pre-Christmas. This year my focus was on sewing for markets as I knew I had some markets close together and wouldn’t have time to re-stock in-between. Orders were quieter this year, which is a mixed blessing, as working 4 days a week leaves little time for sewing, and balancing making stock for markets or orders can produce a little stress (to say the least). This year I’ll see whether I can build up stock for markets AND get more orders AND be more organised.

Here’s a few of the items I made for markets and orders. The tartan stocking, upcycled from a skirt, was a particular favourite of mine and of course, there were elephants for the tree again! I made a few sets of covered notebooks and matching pencil cases, which make perfect presents, and the brolly bags sold as well as ever.

As ever, if you see something you like just send me a message.

New market in Walthamstow

In January and March this year, I had a stall at a new craft fair in The Mall in Walthamstow. This market is being organised by the shopping centre, to try and enable local crafters and small businesses to sell their handmade produce. The money from the stall is being donated to charity. Walthamstwo March 14

The markets has been fairly well attended, with lots of shoppers coming to have a look. As the market becomes more known, hopefully there will be repeat customers, but it’s early days and the organisers are hoping that it will expand.

At both markets, I had lots of different makes – handbags, aprons, sock animals, knitting/ crochet caddies and needle cases.

The March market was on Mother’s Day, and it was lovely to see a few of the products being bought for their Mums – in one case with the Mum there who said she’d prefer a knitting caddy to the coat her daughter had just bought her!

Getting ready for market

On Sunday, 26th January 2014 I’ll be at the first market being held by The Mall, who run the shopping centre in Walthamstow. They want to start a craft fair with handmade produce made in the community, so I thought I would go along and have a stall.

I haven’t had to make much, as I have quite a lot of stock already made up, but I have made a sausage sock dog (Chorizo, being studied by the cat!) and two monkeys (who have yet to be named), so here they are:

As well as these toys, I’ll be having handbags, children’s bags, knitting and crochet caddies, and other goodies. Let’s hope there are some customers!
